Working to take care of patients' needs.

Poor management. The cut throat, back-biting, highly manipulative work ethics are horrible. It is such a hard thing to accept.

I have been working at Parkland Health & Hospital System full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

You are never far from need at Parkland. Its patients receive top-notch care from UT Southwestern faculty. It is a level one trauma and burn center with over 600 beds. You will have a hard time duplicating the Parkland experience anywhere in the country.

    Cons

Parkland is in a tough time at the moment (2012) and there is a lot of change going on. Most of senior leadership is interim. Parkland's operations are not at market leading levels. Its patients are in need, but often a challenging and very sick population.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to work on aligning incentives of UT Southwestern faculty and Parkland patients in terms of quality and safety. Their leadership cannot be undervalued, and their priorities must be Parkland's priorities and not their own.
