Gaining the experience to plan parties

Cons

A dislike of Balloons :D
The pay
Customers, that think they own you cause they're shopping there

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allocate hours to stores so that tasks could get finished at the time that corporate wants it done.
Allow some independence on the store level, DM's should not try to micromanage

I have been working at Party City

    Pros

    Fun atmosphere
    Flexible hours
    Great benefits (30% discount!)

    Cons

Retail (be prepared to deal with stupid people a lot)
Ladders (only bad if you have a fear of heights)
    LOTS OF BALLOONS!!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perhaps lighten up on some policies regarding customers, I feel as though we tend to be too pushy trying to make them comfortable.

I have been working at Party City

    Pros

General fun woking environment with a lot of young, dynamic people. Executive level Presidents & CEO are exceptional at what they do and how they conduct business.

    Cons

Executives are so good that they rarely consider any other point of view and give little or no autonomy to mid-level executives (VP's & Directors) to make decisions on their own. Micro-managing is an understatement here, so if you have a voice about an issue, keep it to yourself if you want to keep your job.

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO
