I worked at Party City full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Good employees, lot of product to see but a lot is all very similar though.

Cons

Not enough payroll to do the jobs needed (stocking, planograms, balloons), terrible signage directions, terrible price change procedures

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit treating employees and management like cattle

I have been working at Party City

    Pros

    - Product giveaways aka clutter
    - Some managers are laid back and funny

    Cons

    - Pay is very low compared to market rate - way below average
    - Insignificant raises, even when promoted
    - Managers take a long time to convert temps to full-time - months of false promises
    - High turnover rate - people are constantly quitting, even higher management
    - Everyone is constantly talking about leaving and looking for new jobs
    - A lot of inexperienced young girls, their first office job - unprofessional dress and manners - can be very distracting to other employees (very small office ~45 people)
    - Products are very cheap in quality and break very easily
    - Costumes are also very bad quality - broken props, rip, missing details. Images on website do not reflect actual product. Models are not wearing the same quality costumes that customers are receiving.
    - Catered food is always the same and bad - cheap company
    - Gets really hectic - not enough people to handle jobs, so everyone is always slammed with work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Motivate employees and give higher raises. Hire more people to ease workload.

I worked at Party City as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

30% discount - VERY busy so the day goes by quickly - associates can see the costumes that are not on display and therefore unavailable to the public - co-workers are so nice! - 5-hr Energy drink company would drop off free samples - nearby eateries would offer discounts for employees 30-50% off - uniform is a pair of khakis, black shirt, white sneakers & vest they supply

    Cons

The schedule was posted on Saturday evenings when Sunday is the beginning of the week - HAD to work on Friday & Saturday before Halloween and day of Halloween (no parties for you!) - pay is $8/hr

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please get the schedule out earlier in the week.
