Fantastic pre-merger. Post, it felt like being part of a funeral dirge.

Pros

Depending on where you worked, the facilities were excellent (Vienna, Stockholm), and the company actively tried to ensure that a positive social environment was maintained.

Cons

Post-merger, you were a second-class employee if you came from bwin; the business is run by the former PartyGaming management.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Creativity and innovation are stifled when workers feel threatened; running a successful company is about more than short-term profits through deep cost-cutting. There's a real danger of throwing the baby out with the bath-water.

I worked at PartyGaming full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Staff tend to be given a great deal of responsibility and freedom with regards to their roles.

    Cons

While managers are given great responsibility, this purely is a mechanism for self exploitation. Performance goes unnoticed and unrewarded, and to compensate for everyday chaos HR have created a wall of policies that only serve one purpose: They exist for senior managers to hide behind. Almost everything is smoke and mirrors. For years the company has resisted to provide a pension scheme for employers, instead it hands out meaningless trifles such as the occasional company breakfast.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't rely on the fact that bwin.party is the biggest fish in the pond and people don't have anywhere else to go. They do.
