    Pros

    AOL benefits, Virtual Office, Finally went to monthly commission pay outs. (Used to be 3 months, then 6 months, then finally monthly except they screw you on commissions if your selling on a CPM basis because it gets billed in arrears.

    Cons

    It's not hyper-local news anymore. Editors have to work in multiple Patch sites and are totally burned out. The freelance budget has been cut and taken away. There is no ROI for advertisers...the daily UV's to the site are a joke.....Patch claims 20,000 plus UV's on a monthly basis per Patch site....the truth is people are going to Patch less than 1.8 visits per MONTH! The site GOALS are 800 visits a day and they aren't hitting those numbers. Now selling a 25% share o of these 800 visits on an inside page position (roughly 85% of the traffic is an "inside" page) for $720 per month to a local business is an insanely high CPM and poor ROI for the client. Unless you are a hospital or financial institution with unlimited budget for "branding" Patch advertising is not a smart investment to grow your business.

    The open rates for the daily email blast are some of the best in the industry....why did the focus to get more "subscribers" ever end??? If 38% of newsletters subscribers are opening their emails each morning for their daily news, then wouldn't having 30,000 subscribers per Patch be the way to go?? It's a FREE subscription! Where would Groupon be without it's millions of subscribers? The average Patch site only has a few thousand subscribers. No wonder your average consumer is on the Patch site for less than 2 days in a month. You are charging local clients 100CPM's in some cases because you have so little traffic. And now taking inventory and giving it to Regional and Nationals players....the hyper-local look and feel was the advantage and niche Patch had. Having a local sales person that was a member of their local Chambers and had real relationships with their hospitals, schools, businesses and residents. All gone. Besides getting a call from India that you haven't paid your bill on time, business owners rarely get a live local person to meet with them. Either inside sales from a call center in New York or a regional person that only has time to call on the phone and ask for a web ex to try and sell them overpriced banner ads. Patch is now a sell out with news that gets updated every 4 days because the editors are overworked and the community doesn't contribute the way they could be. It's a shame how management from rest.com has run Patch into the ground.

    Fun work environment, good benefits, smart and motivated workforce.

    Cons

    Poor management and very little communication between departments. A lot of employee turn over

    Take the time to listen to your employees and evaluate what problems they are having and how to make things better.
