I worked at Patton Boggs

Pros

The employees in the company are all very friendly and supportive. Management is very willing to help you adjust as a new hire and to answer your questions, and so is HR.

Cons

Departments are very segregated, so you will completely be foreign to those who don't work in your department. Some legal practice departments are a little more cliquey/exclusive than others, so associates/interns looking to get experience/exposure may have a little trouble breaking into these cliques.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more opportunites for broad cross-range of experience in different practice regions, and more opportunities for feedback from newer employees.

I have been working at Patton Boggs

    Pros

5 weeks vacation when you start, increases with tenure.
    In-house cafeteria.
Third Thursday - monthly in-house happy hour
    great location

    Cons

They're firing a lot of people on the spot. Everyone is paranoid for their job so it affects morale.
    IT dept is being slashed.
Punch in time card as if we work in a factory.
High insurance premiums. Does not pay for metrocard.
Email is not private, must hand over password.
Have to waste time taking 10 PB University classes that while in theory sound interesting, but in actuality don't have much value.
    Secretaries are often reassigned attorneys.
Matching 401K contributions are only done once a year in May, if your one year anniversary happens after May, you do not get a matching contribution for your first year. That's a big loss to your retirement savings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Boost morale of secretaries, appreciate their value, listen when they complain about attorney personalities.

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO
