I have been working at PayPal full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

The main [difference] is the focus that PayPal puts on the employees and how every decision that is made, we’re made part of it. The boss is not just someone who is above you in the hierarchy. The treatment and the respect towards employees is the most important difference.”

Cons

Compared with other big companies in Irleland PayPal and eBay could offer more or similar beneficials than the others big one, like free food and softdrinks, free child-care or creche and/or at least a more focused support of parents

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at PayPal full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    1. Compensation
    2. Free transport, complementary meal pass, food
    3. Work-life balance.

    Cons

    1. Stagnant technology growth
    2. Talented people are ignored as higher management people focus more on the number of years of experience.
    3. There are many old timers who are reluctant to change and still stick to old 1990's technology. Like REST is being treated like a new term to many in PayPal!
    4. You end up not learning anything even after a few years in the company.
    5. Policy change sometimes is not in favour of existing new employees.
    6. They still use 1990's technology.
    7. They hire too many people without any proper plan. Many are freshers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the old guys at the top position, do not focus on the number of years of experience on hiring, focus on the talents and offer good positions. Change policy to take care of all the employees. Change technology fast otherwise you will lose your market share to companies like Square, Amazon etc. You are the king now because you hardly have any competitor in the online payment industry.

I have been working at PayPal

    Pros

One of the best annual salary package
Lots of free goodies like Bus/Cab service for pickup/drop

    Cons

    Inconsistent goals.
3-4 years behind in terms of picking up technologies, To build a small feature they introduce a lot of plans and consumes a lot of time.
Too many Directors & VPs in the company hierarchy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Curb on the numbers of Directors & VPs if you want to grow further and make this place developers paradise.
