    Pros

    - true opportunity to integrate into a community - exceptional look into the 'real' world of grassroots development, which i believe is invaluable if you plan to pursue a career in international development - makes you a LOT stronger of a person - sets you apart and really adds to your ability to understand promote cross cultural competency - 'the hardest job you'll ever love' : such cheese but man is it true

    Cons

    - prepare to be disillusioned, immediately (some may see that as a bad thing but can also be considered a good thing -- let's you know what's really going on out there!) - can get very lonely - not always as much support from the country bureau as you would hope, but because of this you learn all about what it means to be a self-starter - feels like it's becoming more top-down (D.C. to country staff then on to volunteers) which defeats the purpose of Peace Corps, which is for Volunteers to assess what is needed in their host communities and act on that, not on some blanketed push from HQ

    Advice to Management

listen listen listen to volunteer feedback!
