I have been working at Peace Corps full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Although challenging , the PC experience provides volunteers with a lifetime of lessons, work ethic and patience. PC focuses on sustainable development with a grassroots approach. Volunteers are taught the language specific to the village where they will be living, the culture of the country and ways to work/teach host country nationals in a sustainable way.

    Cons

The application process is long and often times complicated. When working on projects many times funding can be difficult to acquire.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Funding for projects should be made less complicated for ease of project completion during the 27 months of service.

I worked at Peace Corps full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    *Good in the field experience
*You have a lot of freedom to design and work on projects than interest you (although it should be needed in the community as well...do needs assessment prior)

    Cons

*Dealing with the organization itself...its very bureaucratic
*Some times Washington-appointed country directors have little experience in the country's program they are running...this can create a lot of internal conflict.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

*Do more M&E stuff with the volunteers to make sure they are actually having an impact!
