Pearson has many bright, informed, compassionate people at the sub-VP levels. When given the budget, they produce top-notch, innovative materials.

Cons

The in-house staff is often forced to lower the overall quality of their products to stay within budget. It must be really hard to control quality when you can't pay for it.

Advice to Senior Management

Revisit the financial wisdom, long-term, of going with the lowest bidder. Often the in-house staff has to clean up the mess. Delegate more decision-making responsibility to the in-house team.
