I have been working at Pearson full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good intelligent people. Great talent in non management positions. Cafeteria in building with good food. Nice building appearance. Flexibility to work from home.

    Cons

Always restructuring, poor communication across departments, teams. No room for advancement. too much drama and office politics on top of stress. Air condition does not work properly. Leadership out of state. Training given by web ex with inexperienced trainers. If not famiar with processes will drown. Favoritism among management.

    Advice to Management

Keep good talent. Get rid of layers of leadership. Invest in loyal talented employees. Always learning slogan apply it to employees. Great company to grow with but not only with years of service but on a personal level. Too many chiefs and too little indians

Frozen in bureaucracy. Heading towards antiquity.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Pearson as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Giant company with lots of resources. Has a lot of influence in the education market. Potential for innovative products.

    Cons

Suffers from big bureaucracy and many layers of management. Top-down decision making jerks projects around or freezes them altogether via indecision. Frequent reorganizations. Don't provide people with the tools to do their jobs. Lots of people I worked with used their own laptops, software and tablets in order to get things done. Process heavy.

    Advice to Management

Give some authority and resources to the people closest to the problems and products. They have a much better idea what to do than managers 2 and 3 levels up. Listen to your employees. Give more emphasis to results and less to process.
