I have been working at Pearson (More than 10 years)

Pros

I have had a good career which has been flexible to my interests and my family.

Cons

Salary ranges are a joke--after my third "promotion", I still make less than many reps, which is an entry-level job.

Advice to Management

Be clearer in salary ranges and ability to make more money in the company. Build salaries around skills and time with company, not on what range you were before vs where you are now.

I worked at Pearson full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Growing company in the field of publishing and digital printing. They are going in the right direction and it was exciting hear that they teamed up with Apple for iBooks. Benefits like health insurance, 401K, tuition reimbursement, paid holiday/sick/vacation days.

    Cons

Constant reorganization and restructuring of departments. Company is very top heavy. Outsourcing work to India and other vendors because it is cheaper but the below standards instead of getting quality work in less time by staying in-house. Favoritism in departments led to good workers being let go over others.

    Advice to Management

Relieve some of the management and bring back the "worker bees". A lot of good people were let go due to restructuring that could have benefited the company. Stop outsourcing for cheap quality, keep it in-house for faster turnaround times and better quality overall.
