I have been working at Peet's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

It's a coffee shop that sticks to the basics. Coffee and tea are the core and there is extensive information if you have the right people to share it. They have a passion for keeping it bean and leaf based, for the most part. Loyal customers, simple store set up.

    Cons

The coffee and tea core gets lost in trying to keep up with the Jones' down the block(aka Starbucks). I left that company due to them losing focus on the coffee and the culture they "say" they pride themselves on. I came to Peet's seeing at the time that they seemed to be focused on coffee, culture and customer. I am finding them just as guilty of going for the buck rather than keep the standards and tradition. Yes, a natural thing that happens with growth, but don't say one thing and then chase every trend for the buck.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consistency in training. Value workers and don't hold them back for personal reasons. A person's work should be the grounds for which one advances or remains stagnant, holding a person back to help the higher ups hold a store in place is not fair to the person nor to the company as a whole.
