I have been working at Peet's full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

There is such a huge upswing in what is possible carrer wise at Peet's. There are flexible options for work outside of the office and you can really take your development in your own hands.

Cons

They don't always promote the best people for jobs, or it seems like the interview process is meant to place a specific person before the process really starts. The pay increases are very small as well.

I have been working at Peet's full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

A good company that does try to take care of its employees, awesome discount, health insurance if you work enough hours a week, and the best 401k plan I've seen in retail. I personally had an awesome manager for all three years I was there. The environment can be hectic and challenging, but incredibly rewarding to you if you don't exclusively find happiness in your bank account. You can learn how to really talk and listen to anyone, and learn how to stay cool under pressure.

    Cons

One raise a year on a fixed percentage scale, so it's difficult to earn financial rewards for hard work. Retail life is very stressful at the bottom, mostly because of co-workers who refuse to look out for each other. Too much complaining from co-workers who make their jobs stressful by thinking everything they have to do is not worth their time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow any level of employee to visit the roasting plant. Otherwise, this is obviously a growing company that is doing things right.

    I worked at Peet's full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Some co-workers and customers may become your friend and, as with most retail jobs, will become the biggest pro for going to work. If you're a student the best reason to work here is the flexible scheduling. Shifts can range from 4 to 8 hours depending on where you work. If you love coffee you get a free 1/2 pound every week plus all the coffee drinks your heart can handle. The benefits are typical for a full-time employee.

    Cons

Depending on your manager you may find that schedules are sloppy, going against your availability. Some managers are inefficient and disorganized, leading to a chaotic work environment. Some stores have high turn over. You may feel pressure to work on your day off to keep your job. Your manager and corporate may try and convince you that you can have a future with the company, which translates into being a manager for the rest of your life. DON'T DO IT. Some customers get off on treating you like trash, and come in everyday to belittle you.
