I worked at PepsiCo full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Extensive work and responsibilities. Got to experience many different areas of work in the factory. From kitchen to packaging to warehouse. Able to be proud of the work I did.

Cons

Random, last minute working hours. Frequently called in at the last minute on off days to work and also asked to stay for four more hours as just as getting ready to leave. This really diminishes the concept of a 'work-life' balance

I have been working at PepsiCo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pepsico will provide stable employment, career opportunities, and relocation potential. You will build relationships, gain valuable experience, good training, and learn to deal with stressful situations.

    Cons

The Merchandising Manager is known to be one of the most challenging positions at Pepsi. Days begin early in the morning (around 4-5am) and the expectation is a minimum 10hr workday, 12hrs is average as you work until the job is done. In a large location (100 merchandisers/500 merchandisable accounts) you can expect 100+ calls/day from demanding customers, merchandisers, sales reps, or sales managers. The vast majority of the calls will be complaints and issues that will need resolve ASAP. This position is more reactive than proactive and you will deal with functions of HR, safety, and be responsible for service assurance, while keeping to a tight labor budget. While you are required to work min. 50/hr workweeks, your pay is based on 40hrs and this position is not bonus eligible. This is a middle management postion that will test your limits and make you wonder if what you are doing is "worth it". Most positions are underpaid for the responsibility as part of your compensation is "job security" working for this size company.

    Advice to Management

Take more care of the front-line employees and listen to the OHS scores. Compensate management for the responsibilities and do more to promote work/life balance or risk more turnover of talent.. Department objectives also contradict each other. Sales teams and operations teams are not on the same page when it comes to sales and cost management.
