I worked at Perkins Coie as an intern (less than a year)

Pros

Great people, great support staff. Couldn't ask for a better work life balance. People work hard but are also caring.

Cons

The only downside is that there is some legal work that I am interested in that I may not be able to do because the company is still competing with some larger firms. But that's a small complaint.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the amazing support staff in all offices

I worked at Perkins Coie full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

High compensation but long hours, and little if any appreciation or upward mobility.

    Cons

Constant emergency situations and being asked to perform the impossible by whoever the highest earning attorney of the month at the firm happens to be. Low budgets, with highest expectations, unreasonable ones. Discriminates against employees with disabilities, refusing even slightest reasonable accommodation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Assign higher budgets to IT, and allow IT professionals to do their jobs without micromanaging by attorneys who know nothing about technology. Allow CIO to be empowered to make decisions and not be at mercy of a different rabid attorney every week, with each new attorney switching directions for IT

I have been working at Perkins Coie as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Big place, lots of people, lot of work.

    Cons

High workload makes for some stressed out people. If you're still working there, and you are working overtime frequently and are obviously stressed out and taking it out on others, and you don't like it, then do yourself a favor and go work somewhere else less stressful. Didn't seem as if there was a good training program in place.
