I have been working at Pershing

Pros

Pershing is a great place to work, since it's a susidiary of BNYM there are opportunities within Pershing, and the parent company to really advance one's career
work environment is one of the best out there. They care about life work balance. They invest in technology as far as video conferencing, presentations.

Cons

information sharing does not happen as often as you would like it's who you know
Hard to find out which department handles what, a lot of passing off of responsibility.
Their internal technical support is very poor. There is no follow up from the tech support department on issues. They have a lot of programs on their network that don't talk to each other sometimes associates systems crash daily.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please make promotions and bonus calculations more transparent, it seems like a mystery to most associates. Keep up the great communication via webcast and onsite meetings.

I have been working at Pershing

    Pros

The vacation plan and benefits are very good. If you are willing to work very hard you will be recognized. The location right off of the Grove Street path station has improved tremendously over the last 10 years.

    Cons

If you don't live in the immediate area, the commute into Jersey City is horrible. Most people work a lot of overtime, including nights and weekends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be afraid to drastically change the status quo.

Politics rule entirely over meritocracy and individual creativity.

I have been working at Pershing

    Pros

    1. Informative classes provided for career development
    2. Daily work somewhat predictable
    3. Good benefits

    Cons

    1. Management disconnected with employees on actual work performed
    2. Incentives (i.e. bonuses) taken away
    3. Technology innovation not the future focus or firm priorty

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Become more actively interested within the grassroots portion of the organization; specifically, on the overall satisfaction of Pershing associates. This would help mitigate high turn over rates within specific Pershing departments.
