Pros

I love seeing dogs all the time. My management team is awesome.

    I worked at PetSmart full-time

    Pros

    Good benefits, enjoyable work for the most part, many different areas in which to excel. Has virtually everything a pet owner could want or need for almost any circumstance, mostly in stores, also online. Truly enjoyed the chance to get to know the pet parents much more closely than in a discount environment.

    Cons

    Perhaps too much is expected for the amount of payroll provided - that was always the first area to be cut when we needed to save money. This is especially true in the services part of the business. Also, I observed occasions where different associates and managers were held to different standards by those providing coaching and counseling - at one point I was actually told that since a department manager was newer than another they could not be held as accountable to the same expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Show consistency when dealing with associate issues and expectations - any associate at a given level should be accountable for the same level of performance expectation as any other.
