“PETCO was a fun place to work because of the people and the animals, their pay and time off wasn't good.”
Former Employee – worked at Petco
Pros – Customers were always very happy to be coming in. Usually excited about getting a new pet or having fun with the family. I learned a lot about animals and enjoyed the day to day of the job.
Cons – They paid only minimum wage and raises were in short supply. The manager I had did not care about anyones work/life balance. I didn't feel that I had much opportunity to advance in the company either.
Advice to Senior Management – I don't know if it was just my manager at my store if this is typical for the company, but I would recommend that management keep in mind that their employees have lives outside of the company. You will keep good employees if you make sure they have a good work/life balance.
