Former Employee - Engineering Intern in Sharjah (United Arab Emirates)
Former Employee - Engineering Intern in Sharjah (United Arab Emirates)

I worked at Petrofac as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

- Principal Engineers are very knowledgeable. They really help you learn everything. They take an effort to help you out if you go ask them something
- The internship program was pretty structured. You get your own cubicle, a telephone, a desk, computer to work with.
- They have these networking events, like Friday breakfast's and so on where you can meet people from your department

The internship solely depended on how you used it. No one pushed you to do anything, if you wanted something you had to ask for it. There were interns who practically did nothing and there were interns who worked till late in the office

Cons

- HR hires only people from Lebanon and surrounding areas.
- There were no rotational programs were you could get a taste of everything in the company
- Overworking a few people was something I noticed here.

Former Employee - Process Intern in Sharjah (United Arab Emirates)

I worked at Petrofac as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

A lot of young talented engineers in the process apartment willing to give time and effort to help and advise on any problem I had, from simulation work to design calculations.
Great place to work, especially during the winter with fantastic weather.

    Cons

Long working hours with no flexible time. 8am-6pm every day. No access to any news/media/social site at any time throughout the working day. Little trust shown in employees to get work done on their own.
