I worked at Pfizer full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Progressive, risk tolerant, always changing/learning

Cons

Stressful, always acquiring and cutting, more focused on cutting costs and people than growing the top line, preaching engagement and balance but not practicing it

Advice to Management

Practice what you preach, cut at top levels consistent with lower level jobs, recognize that just since a major product goes off patent does not mean all operations for all other products can reduce to account for lost revenues

I worked at Pfizer full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I really enjoyed most of the people I worked with. All were well rounded, professional, educated and, for the most part, enthusiastic and hard working. The company initially was completely committed to the success of the sales force and spared no expense to ensure all sales needs were met. The salaries, bonuses and benefits were second to none. The support in the field was superb as well.

    Cons

My career ended when I was laid off in 2009. There was a lack of product in the pipeline to maintain sales when medicines lost their patent exclusivity. Job security and growth continue to be an area of concern.

    Advice to Management

Trust and invest in the sales force. The remarkable success of Pfizer was based on this, regardless of products or collaborations.
