I worked at Pfizer as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Hands-on work experience, good opportunities to learn about pharmaceutical marketing, a decent load of real work, a lot of communication on the part of co-workers in the team I was lucky to be part of a team with very active and engaging co-workers/managers. Supposedly good benefits and pay for regular employees (non-interns) Good opportunities for female employees compared to other companies in Korea Moderately good cafeteria food

    Cons

A lot of office politics stressing out employees A lot of activities hidden under the radar from interns (there seems to be a lot of interesting work going on in pharma marketing) Surprisingly low pay for an international pharmaceutical company Type of work given to interns might not be very satisfying Very slim likelihood of being offered a full-time position through internship (usually hires only people with experience in related industry or function) Significant differences between teams in terms of culture, communication, management, type of work etc.

    Advice to Management

Better pay for interns Try to provide real incentives for better quality applicants Less non-work related activities

    Pros

Great team working in a fabulous open plan environment with access to lots of spaces for informal meeting and brainstorm sessions. Very experienced and stable management team who were recognised globally for their high calibre.

    Cons

The OTC products were heavily regulated and often this stifled creativity. Colleagues had to be constantly pushed to figure out how to push boundaries in a heavily regulated world. The sales of the consumer division to J&J also created anxiety around the business. In general this was well managed by the management team but uncertainty and individual concerns over a period of months did impact the generally good working environment.

    Advice to Management

Sit closer to your teams. There was a little bit of a senior management ghetto which meant open plan environment wasn't as productive as it could have been.
