    I worked at Pfizer

    Pros

Great company with great pay and benefits. Huge company so lots of upward and sideways opportunities. Treat employees well while you are there if you can survive the constant downsizing.

    Cons

Pfizer like the rest of the pharma industry is contracting, and will likely continue to do so. That said if you have to work in the pharma industry you might as well do at one of the best companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the constant changing and reinventing how we do everything. Research needs some consistency to work through the already complex process that is drug discovery, without always changing the process and rules of the game.

I have been working at Pfizer

    Pros

Prestige and comfortable work environment. Good benefits including generous educational assistance. Opportunities to interact with outstanding scientists and do high impact work.

    Cons

Culture encourages employees to focus more on politics than doing quality work. Career growth highly limited if you are not good at politics. Limited earning potential under rigid salary structure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cant really say much as I am still early in career. But PGRD seems excessively bloated with tons of overlap among functions. Better put the focus on the long term and use more value-based criteria such as external publications to assess individual performance instead of focusing too much on the short term and the numeric metrics.
