    Pros

People who are passionate about delivering cutting-edge technological innovations for healthcare providers and their patients. A strong history of technological innovation. Strong brand recognition outside the USA. The employees truly care about one another! Even with all the challenges the company faces Philips is a great place to work!!

    Cons

The healthcare industry has evolved dramatically over the past six years. Philips was positioned to lead the industry into that evolution however selected to stick with what had worked in the past under the belief the market was not ready and continuing to segment the healthcare portfolio into highly specialized sales channels would generate greater financial returns. Now the industry has consolidated and standardized and evolved beyond Philips's go to market structure and leadership is struggling to re-position its segmented sales channels and repackage its higher cost solutions as economically viable in an industry where "good enough" now still means good health care results.

I have been working at Philips Healthcare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Philips values the knowledge and experience a person has learned over the years that would add to the team strength. An overall emphasis is given to team work and an effort made to build management styles that would give the ability for the company or divisions of Philips to function in a joint effort with end user customer satisfaction. The thought, structure and plan are workable and doable.

    Cons

For team management and team effort to work, the individuals of the team should be able to contribute to the end cause; especially where that idea has an impact on the end user's lasting experience with the product. Although individual ideas and contributions are encouraged and many times the individual's ideas are solicited, the amount of time for those thoughts and ideas to go up the chain is contrary to the amount of time needed for consideration or even implementation. The result is an extended length of time may be needed for implementation of a good idea or in fact, a resolve to an anticipated issue where sometimes in the end, customer confidence is sacrificed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

From my vantage point as a non-manager employee of Philips, I see lots of change as Philps Healthcare is being separated from Royal Philips. There are a lot of people who have invested a lifetime of effort and experience to the company that are able to assist with the needed changes. Please take care to listen to the non-managers - the workers that are close to the end user customer - for ideas and thoughts that very likely impact the change that is occurring.
