I have been working at Philips Lighting full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

People there are great to work with. Mature group of engineers with still some reminisce of the old "HP Way". Always busy, always something to do. Some really good technical people around. A lot of PhDs that are hands on.

    Cons

Company struggling to stay competitive in a low margin market share. Asia is quickly starting to catch up! Management clueless to the direction of the company. Waste of a lot of money, time and energy investigating new concepts and ideas without doing their homework first.
Dutch Management is very "chain of command". Don't expect a manager talking directly to a VP unless you go through the Director first. HR is useless and not very helpful. I don't see their only staffing person as part of HR though.
Company has most of their eggs in one basket/customer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the customers and people first. Industry is changing and company is too top heavy.
