Pros

You have alot of resources to help clients

Cons

Phoenix House is always understaffed People at the top are mostly recovering addicts without degrees

Advice to Management

Management needs to have more in house training in addition to having a in/house trainer. Client programs should be more plentiful. Clients should not be idle at any time. The use of caffine and nicotine should cease. You are not clean if you are using either DRUG

    I have been working at Phoenix House full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Some of the clients really do want to overcome addiction, but most are there just because they got caught and are mandated by the criminal justice system

    Cons

    The management is dysfunctional. Most are dry-drunks/addicts who carry the same dysfunctional behaviors into the workplace. Senior management has no clue what goes on in the programs. Clients are having sex with clients, Staff are having sex with staff AND clients, people stealing company property and do the minimum to "keep under the radar"...

    Pros

    The opportunity to work some amazing clients Fast-paced and challenging work loads make any work day go by Non-profit which equals not the best pay but also results in the on-site staff working there because they want to, not because they have to. Most on-site staff genuine with 100% good intentions in everything they do. Current Management team is wonderful and has really improved some costumer service aspects of things. Happy customers (families) = happy staff.

    Cons

    Decisions are made by upper management who rarely step foot in the facility or even in the state. Very little to no positive staff recognition Poor communication from upper management about changes and programming It seems as though anyone who does not "know people" in the company or who try to stand firm on any issue will not stay employed very long Multiple extremely concerning issues never addressed (again seemed to be related to "knowing people"). There was no way to tell what gets swept under the rug and what will be corrected. Insurance could be better but is comparable to other similar company benefits in the area. ZERO effective new staff training. Staff is required to sit through hours of various state regulated trainings however nothing else is provided with the skills or tools in assisting with a client crisis or altercation. ZERO opportunity for growth in the company.

    Advice to Management

    It would be really cool if instead of playing favorites and handing out raises and bonus's to staff at facilities who are losing money and y'all would put that money towards treatment days for the client's with out insurance.
