I have been working at Physio-Control

    Pros

Making a life-saving product makes you feel good at the end of the day, every day. The health care benefits are the best I've ever had - since the company makes medical devices, they have paid 100% for various medical devices needed by my family (custom orthotics, etc.). Salary and bonuses are more than adequate, especially in today's market. Immediate management makes sure team members are adequately compensated, and the need for personal time and family life is recognized.

    Cons

There is no clear organizational structure. The senior management seems to be out of touch with the many challenges faced daily by those doing the work. There are too many products to manage well. The processes are constantly changing and there is no way to find out what process you are expected to follow on any given day. You can spend a lot of time just trying to find out who is responsible for making a decision, only to find out that no one will take responsibility.

I worked at Physio-Control as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Nice environment with noise reducing cubicles to minimize chatter volume. Courteous colleagues, good work life balance. There are star players who you can learn from and depend on when you're uncertain of something or are just trying to learn the ropes.

    Cons

Its amazing how little groups know about the function of other groups or for that matter members within a group. There are very few star players and they are worked beyond death. No sense of including redundancy measures on the personnel level within the organization. Conflicting documentation standards between groups and individuals alike. Companies buy and sell this place like a you know what. Getting correct information from people can be a draining chore. Need older information needed for a new project? Good luck! Better have master treasure hunter as skill tacked on your resume because you're going to need it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Why bother? So instead how about an ego stroke? You are never wrong. Infallible. Perfect in every way. A star among stars. Daisy's and roses spring to life with every step you take even through the carpeted floors of your organization. : |
