I have been working at Pilot Flying J full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great People to work with, Bonus is nearly guaranteed. 5 year bonus as part of profit share which could easily be 6 figures

    Cons

Long days, Dealing with Truck drivers who urinate in bottles and poop in bags and throw them where ever. High Stress!!! Always being yelled at and being pulled in all directions. Do more with less each and every year. Average store has 18,500 customers a week and we operate 24/7 on 500 hours do the math 12-13 hour days 6 days a week is the normal environment. Non stop visits from HQ people that say what is wrong but, don't step up to help.

    Advice to Management

You make 0.18$ per gallon of diesel spend some on hourly wages and more payroll to drive customer service which is what you preach. Back it up and quit lining your pockets to buy a football team

I worked at Pilot Flying J full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed building rapport with the customers and employees, but you get that in any retail setting.

    Cons

Like the rest of the retail world, salary means you work a lot of hours. I did average about 50 most of the time, but some weeks were 60-70. The pay is not great- I made a lot more at Walgreens for the same position. The corporate support system is not that good. The computers are always having some kind of problem- some issues go on for months without being addressed. We had 30 year old gas pumps that the techs had problems finding parts for. They were constantly messing up and it frustrated the customers. It was frustrating listening to the complaining from the customers when it wasn't our fault. The employees' pay was pitiful. This led to high turnover. They cut hours during the winter, so everyone had to get used to making less money during this season. Not really fair in my opinion

    Advice to Management

For this business model to work, you have to have good people and keep them. $8 an hour gives you no chance of doing this.
