I worked at Pinnacle Entertainment part-time (more than a year)

Pros

The casino itself is modern, spacious and kept very clean. The EDR and other break areas are very nice. For the most part the supervisors are friendly and the overall employee base is friendly on the highest level. Reasonable base pay and toke rate.

Cons

Advancement seems to have ground to a halt on the lower levels. It would take years of attrition to make it to full time status without a jump to dual-rate floor. D/R floors almost always are suited up as they run their supervision staffing razor thin. Company videos of people dancing around at work that play on the monitors in the employee areas can't quiet the murmurs of the over worked salaried supervisors.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more supervisors and give them training when you do so. The training for dual-rate floors is nonexistent beyond computer tests. Make employee retention a priority.

    Why even bother with surveys if you are unwilling to make any changes. Just a waste of time.

    Pros

    Opportunities to move to different properties and the merger with Ameristar should help with openings.

    Cons

    Lack of support, uneasiness with massive lay-offs, lack of communication and like most hospitality or 24hr businesses, hours can be tough.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Boomtown used to be a very tight group and by trying to make the property something it is not you are destroying the culture and making less money.
