Great company with a respectable mission. However, interns get the grunt work.

I worked at Pioneer Human Services as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

In the short time I was there I really saw no Pro's to the job.

    Cons

Unethical, lies, want you to spend your money to fund program training. Pay is PATHETIC. I agreed to less money on the grounds that we were helping Juvenile Offenders. I really hope the JJRA takes a close in depth look at Pioneer and how they are spending the Grant money. I was questioning why I didn't and couldn't get my training supplies, was also talking with JJRA people and was terminated on Performance. However the JJRA people and students loved the training I was providing.

I have been working at Pioneer Human Services full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    The mission is valuable
There are dedicated people working for the company
    The workforce is diverse
You get a chance to make a big impact in people's lives

    Cons

Senior management doesn't know whether they want to be a mission company, or a manufacturing company
Decision making is paralyzed at the top and requires hours and hours of meetings for the simplest changes
Monetary focus is tighter than mission success focus
Top executives have very little understanding of the type of social services the company is involved in and expect quick fixes to chronic problems

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You've lost your way. Focus your efforts in improving the client services the company provides. Enterprise is not the golden child that you seem to think it is.
