Pitney Bowes Senior Area Sales Executive:   (Past Employee - 2008)

Pros

There are two positives to working for Pitney Bowes. One is the benefits are above average and two Pitney Bowes offers young people the opportunity to gain some sales training and experience to help them secure a better position after a couple of years.

Cons

The major downside to PB is that they are about to become a dinosaur. Technology has made many of their products obsloete and they have been slow to move into this century. They finally realize that the postage meter is a dying breed but may be too late in expanding their line of solutions to be a reasonable business partner in today's business climate. If you are an experienced sales professional the base salaries are very low based on comparable positions with other companies.

Advice to Senior Management

Stop living in the past. You are no longer the only option out there. Get off of your high horse to visit the field to see what is going on outside of your ivory tower. You will be suprised that selling in today's environment is not like it was 20 or 30 years ago when you were out there. Competition is fierce and better solutions are available to companies that take the time to do their research.
