I worked at Plano ISD

Pros

The school district is very organized and well-managed. They provide a menu of resource that teachers can choose from. Very professional work environment and they are good at limiting gossip about students and teachers.

Cons

This is a con particularly for those who want a work-life balance but a plus for those in the ambitious season of their career. The school I worked at has a strong culture of hard work, driving up the level of competition. This raises the status quo to 50+ hours a week and can be very challenging if you have a family. The teachers seem to be aware of what they signed up for and don't complain about it.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Special education teachers at the elementary school level don't have access to the same team environment as the grade level teacher, mostly because they teach in a mixed age and multi-level environment. This is a challenge for the special education teachers but if administration can find a solution, it will be reflected in student achievement.
