    Pros

    I just started at Playdom but so far it is an excellent place to work, especially the San Francisco office, which has a startup feel but the backing of a large company.

    Cons

    It is a vibrant, growing company so appreciation and tolerance of a dynamic workplace environment would be an asset if you wanted to work here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Establish a tighter cultural link between the SF and Palo Alto offices.

    Pros

    - in general, most employees are smart and competent-- some very much so
    - decent side perks-- free lunches and dinners, snacks, dual monitors, laptops, video games, etc
    - young, fun atmosphere-- most employees are probably still in their early/mid 20s
    - social gaming is also young and therefore an interesting industry to be a part of
    - on the tech side, there are some interesting scalability issues being tackled
    - work hours can be pretty light if you want them to be

    Cons

    - lack of tangible technical/strategic vision across the company. if execs know what they are doing, they sure arent convincing anyone
    - company is still struggling to find its place-- they have had a couple longterm successes and a couple flash-in-the-pans, but they haven't figured how to reliably reproduce either
    - many, if not all, employees were disillusioned by the lack of any payout from the acquisition; a large number have left, and many of the remainder are just in a holding pattern until they vest
    - poor communication across different teams
    - due to inexperienced middle mgmt, many incompetent employees are allowed to linger, reducing overall morale

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - communicate in truths, not in empty rah rah rahs-- say exactly what you're going to do and how you're going to do it
    - work harder to attract and retain top talent-- increase salaries and equity, but also expectations
    - make true on your pledge to release high quality content-- consolidate teams into a half dozen quality games and hire experienced managers that have proven themselves
    - take advantage of big-company economies of scale-- invest more in internal infrastructure instead of fragmenting resources and reinventing the wheel 10x
