I have been working at Porter Airlines

    Pros

Brand new company, providing a product that is superior in so many ways to its competitors, employees can be very proud of saying they work for Porter Airlines. The branding is very recognizable and personifies the company's position in the industry (the raccoon). The travel benefits are improving as more interlines agreements are arranged with different airlines. HR/Senior management is accessible and approachable. Great career growth opportunities, the company is small (800 employees) but its expansion, purely based in customer appreciation for the product in all diffrent cities, is inevitable and unlimited at this point. All in all a challenging, worth while experience.

    Cons

There are not too many bad things about working at Porter that arent adressed in one way or another. The pay is industry standard; would prefer above industry. Ferry across the channel adds to travel time. Manpower is strained due to expansion of company, finding the right people, company reorganization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in the employees; more institutionalized and professional training ("The Porter Academy" our own TPA!) for front line staff. Promote work/life balance, currently nonexistent, since work can be a big contributing factor to stress(IROPS!), this company can take a more active role in relieving such stresses and become an example to others.
