I have been working at Porter Novelli

    Pros

It is possible to be involved in exciting work for government and private clients that have commendable goals for improving people's lives.

    Cons

Although good work is recognized with a "thank you," promotions do not align with positive performance reviews and they are not always merit-based. Business development can be scattershot, and while some clients inspire pride with their goals for promoting health lifestyle changes, others we serve push for changes that negate our most lofty efforts. Professional development opportuities are most often afforded to senior staff, and movement towards being a "one firm firm" is acted upon only when covenient.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leadership should be recognizing and growing talent of promising junior level staff, providing staff with the professional development opportunities they identify would best grow their skill sets, and should be acting in accordance with the words they use to describe the performance review system and the firm as a whole. Take stock of wy and the ideals under which PN was created, and bring the company back to a place when we worked to serve those principles.
