I have been working at Portland State University part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very flexible about scheduling. Supportive about success as a student. Tries to taylor tasks to interests and professional development. Very nice to have work and school in one place.

    Cons

Jobs can get tedious. Outdated systems and bureaucratic management create a significant portion of the problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to budget a little more on reasonable systems so IT doesn't have to make older systems try to work for current demands.

I have been working at Portland State University as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Great downtown area with food-carts. Facilities for computer and engineering field are excellent. A lot of available funds for students to do research, start-up, developing innovative ideas. Very diverge with multi-national annual events such as International Night, Chinese Night, Vietnamese Night, Japanese Night, etc.

    Cons

Intuition keeps increasing. Not a lot of available scholarship. Student health care is expensive. Some of the fee could be opt-out instead of opt-in.
