I have been working at Pottery Barn part-time (more than an year)

Pros

Great employee discount - 40%

Cons

Horrible pay for back breaking work, no motivation from mgt, no training from mgt

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please come up with creative ways to motivate employees, despite the low pay. Also, no one enjoys looking like fools to customers when they can't speak intelligently about a product because they've had no training.

NO MOVEMENT IN COMPANY, New CEO cares more for her shoes than her employees.

Not much chance for advancement but a good discount and about what you'd expect for a retail job.

I worked at Pottery Barn full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

40% discount at Pottery Barn, Williams-Sonoma, and West Elm for employees, including sale items. They treat you pretty decently and I was always able to get time off if I asked for it.

    Cons

You have to work at least one weekend day. Hours can change drastically--40 hours during floor sets and busy times, then there are times you only get 10 hours/week or less. The on-call shifts are really annoying because you can't make definite plans and have to call in the day-of. Invariably the days you don't want to come in, they want you and the days you want to work, you're not needed.
