I have been working at Pottery Barn part-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

You acquire the skills of an Interior Designor in a sense and gain knowledge of company product.

Cons

Using your own, the pay for fuel is barely nothing where you feel at time all of this useless.

I have been working at Pottery Barn part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Generous discount
    Beautiful location
    Good mix of personalities
Customers love the product and being in the store
Many regular customers, so a good and comfortable place for them

    Cons

Completely absent store manager. In the store maybe one time each week, and then only "on a conference call" not on the floor with the associates or the customers or the other managers.
    Other managers are just cashiers.
    No leadership at any level.
Zero training for associates, even when asked for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up and stop lying to yourselves. This store, like most retail, is run on the backs of the hourly people. Those employees should have your attention. If you want the reputation of PB to be maintained, standards need to be in place. Insist that management is all "on the same page", because they are not.

I have been working at Pottery Barn part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I have been at Pottery Barn for a year now and cant say anything bad about it at all. THe store in Scottsdale, has a family atmosphere amongst staff, the product is amazing and it is always a fun job, the i don't even consider it work. I am very lucky with the management team i have. I am able to take time off from work for family and events in my life, making a great work and life balance.

    Cons

the opportunity for advancement is unclear, they never job post or even let you interview for any advancement available

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Although the manager is often not in the store, the current management team empowers us to succeed as individuals, with taking the time to listen to our ideas, concerns and help us to succeed.
