I worked at Pottery Barn part-time (more than an year)

Pros

Great people to work for. Managers have a great love for customers and the company as a whole. Even as a part-time employee I desired to work for a company that provided such quality product and had the customer service skills that really made people happy that also encouraged their employees to move up in the brand.

Cons

Retail experience always has its downsides

Positive Outlook

    Pros

People first company with great salary and benefits

    Cons

Complex selling processes need protected training for 3 weeks min, poor work/life balance for GM's and computer systems need serious updates 40 min transactions = walk in business ignored for long periods of time

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not over simplify what can be learned on floor vs. longer training for Mgmt
Go back to basics w/ expectations, customers need to come first

I have been working at Pottery Barn full-time

    Pros

For the most part, there is a positive work environment in the building.

    Cons

Pay is low considering the duties management is expected to perform. Also, inconsistent hours. Even though you are hired at full time, your hours may get cut below 30 frequently.
