A risk aversion, commodity company with no future insight

    Pros

Company's somewhat monopoly in gas business; Performing company stock.

    Cons

Senior management does not have the guts to invest in new technologies. The annual budget for R&D has been pathetic compared to industrial peers. Company only promotes YES men instead of talented people. Due to lack of technolgy projects, company hires many "Productivity Improvement" people who can't really solve any technical problems, but appear to be busy (having meetings) all the time. This is a typical American company that rests on existing monopoly status, waiting for others to erode its market share. This is not the type of enterprise who can lead US out of the recession through constant innovations.

Current Employee - Sourcing Manager in Buffalo, NY

    Pros

Good benefits, fair and freindly work environment, minimal travel, large fortune 300 company with global reach yet close to home.

    Cons

Too competetive, Limited opportunities for career advancement within ones own department, forced to seek outside of department for advancement. Salary structure not comunicated well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leaders should be more open with employees and communicate changes effectivly rather than let the "Grape Vine" be their best source of information.

    No opinion of CEO
