Take a step backwards to take a larger step forward with employees, equipment and the future of the company. Pass up many projects with postive NPV and ROI due to corporate financing structure.

I have been working at Precision Castparts full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Lots to do, lots to learn. A few good colleagues.

    Cons

Lots to do because the site has been neglected for 20 years. Lots to learn because you're drop-shipped into a position that is overloaded and overwhelmed, and you either figure it out on your own or you fail because mentorship is very limited. What few good people make their way to Houston turn and run as soon as they can. I do not know that this job will ever be worth it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Operations leadership fails to connect with maintenance. Operators are poorly trained and inept, machinery is destroyed on a regular basis, and the finger is always pointed to maintenance. Preventative maintenance is a joke, predictive maintenance or lean manufacturing concepts are a far-off dream. Everything is reactive and it is always someone else's fault. The culture must change.

    Pros

Flat organization with constant upper management interactions / opportunities. Compensation is also strong.

    Cons

Its lean manufacturing, so there aren't a lot of perks and it requires a tough mental attitude.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on some brand recognition to acquire folks with higher talent levels.
