Precision Castparts – “The Company of the YEAR NOT TO WORK FOR.

Sep 3, 2008

1.0

Precision Castparts General Manager in Plymouth, MI:   (Current Employee)

Pros

No real known reason to work for SPS Technologies or any of their divisions. Working at a PCC division would be good.

Cons

At the SPS Engineered business run by a very young in-experienced group president. He does not know how to do anything, even though he talks about the 11 or 12 jobs he has had in the last 9 or 10 years. He says he has 2 Master Degrees and that makes him good. But even division he has been responsible for has lost mony for the 4 plus years he has been in charge. His boss the SPS President does not care that this group president is uncapable of making the division profitable.

Advice to Senior Management

Get rid of the talkers and put in peole with real experience. Set dead lines for the group president to gat all the divisions turned around or get rid of him. Develop a plan for each division and execute the plan per the milestones. The only constant over the last 4 years has been the group president, so a good manager would start to look at removing the constant. You cannot keep removing the workers and have only managers and succeed.
