I worked at Presbyterian Church of the PCUSA

Pros

Because you are called to such a ministry
Because you have a deep faith in Jesus as Lord and want to lead others to the same
Because you have a well of patience and compassion for others in their trials

Cons

You will be overworked, the hours are basically 24/7
You will have trouble maintaining appropriate distance and professionalism while also expressing sufficient care and concern for parishioners
You will constantly run into people who have no idea how to do your job, but who consider themselves experts

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The denomination is so broad, and the theological commitments represented so diverse, that it almost means nothing at all anymore to be "Presbyterian." I know it sounds nice to be inclusive, but the church just cannot function without some degree of unity over essential doctrines.
