PricewaterhouseCoopers – “Understand what you're getting in to”
Pros
PwC is wonderful if, at the beginning of your career, you are completely convinced that accounting is the career you desire. If this is something that you truly want, all the resources are there for you to achieve, e.g. training, client portfolio, knowledgeable coworkers, etc.
Cons
There are sacrifices involved. You will not have a consistent work schedule. Do not count on being regularly involved in activities outside of work.
PwC prides itself on its team based approach to work. However, this concept varies. Often, a "team" refers to a group of people sitting in a room who only speak to pass down work to others when their "plate" gets "full." There can be very little collaboration in actuality.
Advice to Senior Management
In this economic downturn, more attention from leadership (partners & managers) is being focused on sales. This leads to less leadership involvement in the actual work and the work product may begin to suffer.
