Lack of knowledge from superiors, low parent involvment, and no pay raise in 3 years.

Try other counties make this your last resort.

    Pros

    Appreciative children in poverty, many learning English
    Teachers work in grade level teams with specialists, including special ed and ESOL
    Adequate pay and benefits
    The state is making improvement in this county school system

    Cons

    No union contract for the past two years
    Lack of resources provided: curricula materials outdated and in short supply, instructional materials, textbooks, equipment, teachers buy their own supplies
    Often absent, noncommunicative principals
    Ethnocentric parents distrust teachers, other parents unsupportive of school, neglect children

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Ask teachers what they need to do their jobs, and provide it, before evaluating them based on standardized test scores.

    there are not enough people with diverse backgrounds to meet the needs of the diverse student body.

    The management should work on developing a more equitable strategy for promoting people with great experience who are 40+.
