I worked at Princess Cruise Lines as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The crew comes from some 35 different nationalities and all work and play together in harmony
    You make great friends

    Cons

On board things work in a silo mentality - little cooperation between departments
Home office is often out of touch with the reality of the on-board product
Quality has dropped in order to make the numbers - now on-board everything is sell, sell sell
Your happiness on board depends a lot on the particular management on that ship
Kind of incestuous - living and loving together often gives preference to folks in relationships with higher rank officers, but that is shipboard life
On-board experience often cannot live up to customer expectations created by corporate sales folks

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

C.R.U.I.S.E. is a great concept, but like many other concepts, ideas from Santa Clara it doesn't actually get implemented on board. There is a major disconnect between the ships and the "beards" in the home office.

I worked at Princess Cruise Lines full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The best customer service experience I have ever given or received, both shoreside and aboard ship.

    Cons

Due to their massive budget cuts and reorganizing many employees were laid off and unfortunately thier previously terrific customer service has suffered.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your act together. Your current employees are overworked and your moral is extremely low. You need to take better care of your current employees. They are all afraid of losing their jobs.
