Former Employee - Postdoctoral Research Associate in Princeton, NJ

Pros

Wicked smart faculty and graduate students, and exceptionally strong undergraduates that are a pleasure to teach

Cons

Post docs are few and far between, and there is a tendency for them to fall through the cracks - not being included on faculty or graduate student email lists means being the last person in the world to hear about important policy changes or social activities

Advice to ManagementAdvice

none really - better career placement services might be useful I guess.

    Pros

This was a part-time job at the box office for the Lewis Center for the Arts. Pros are:

    -flexible working hours
    -friendly colleagues

    Cons

There were a few bad things at the box office which gradually became apparent.

-working room was a little tight (you better like your colleagues)
-a scandal occurred and management acted very unprofessionally
-immediate supervisor played favorites (get on his good side early!)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase the available working space and perform professionally.

It's a decent place to be if you're a graduate student.

Current Employee - Graduate Student in Princeton, NJ

    Pros

Great professors, freedom to work whenever you want, and your advisors care a lot about your progress through the program. You have tons of ownership over whatever you are working on.

    Cons

Although the workload is self-imposed, you often feel like you have to be working as hard as you can, as much as you can. It can eat away at a good work-life balance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The first year should focus less on coursework and more on research work.
