I have been working at Princeton University full-time (less than a year)

Pros

Great for raising a family: quiet, safe, and gorgeous. Extremely well funded university, great educational resources. Health plan is fantastic. Hour train to Penn Station in New York.

Cons

None for me! Though the distance from a major city tends to be a bummer for the younger crowd. Also, an affluent neighborhood such as Princeton means things generally come with a higher price tag.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

None.

I worked at Princeton University full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The campus is beautiful and the facilities are generally really good. They have great core facilities which let you do experiments with equipment you wouldn't have in your lab. There is a machine shop you can learn to use. The faculty members are in large part top notch.

    Cons

Princeton is a small town with not a lot going on, so if you like city life it might not be fore you. The NJ transit is there, but going to the city is a bit of a slog, and you have to end up leaving rather early in the night to catch the last train back. One minor gripe is that the food options near lab are very limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to let more private contractors onto campus to provide food. How about some food trucks for example? Small thing would improve the quality of life for scientists tremendously.
