Printpack Employee Review
Printpack – “Solid company, with some areas that need improvement.”
Pros
It is a stable environment, they take care of their people. You don't see a lot of cut-throat practices. If they like you, they will keep you even if they don't have a position for you immediately. They'll continue to pay you while they find you a more appropriate position to match your skills.
It is a very family oriented enviornment. Family definitely comes first with Printpack.
Although they have their share of "challenging" resources, there are a ton of nice, friendly people that work there at all levels. In general people will go out of their way to help you out.
The annual bonuses aren't too bad when they have a good year.
Cons
Middle management is suspect, and they are often penny wise/pound foolish. In fairness however, I have been told they have recently done a salary comparison to their industy competitors and are on the road to making ammeds with regards to market value for salaries.
The gap between the "have's" and "have not's" is considerable...There is also a lot of dead wood that could use cutting. The company could beenfit from a few ax men or women reviewing each department's staff. They keep people they shouldn't but won't hire for positions they should staff. Their attempts to do more work with less people is legendary among employees. Everyone knows a story about someone who now covers 2 or 3 key positions after the other 1 or 2 people quit.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide more interim goals for employees to attain and consider quarterly or semi-annual bonuses. Although the annual bonuses are pretty decent, when there is a good year, it is a LONG time to wait for another one. The decoupling of reviews and raises/bonuses is also a little wierd too.
