Progress Investment Management – “Bad for your career health”
Pros
Benefits package is good and very competitive. Junior level employees seem to work well together. Not a competitive environment amongst employees.
Cons
Focus on the bigger picture is at a loss. Too much time, effort, man power is wasted on focusing on the insignificant details (i.e. what time employees get into work, how many lunch hours are taken, how much allotted vacation time is used, how much fruit is eaten, talking and ONLY talking about goals, constant company meetings where forced group exercises are implemented...) The company is extremely disorganized as a whole. Working there is battlefield. Getting things done correctly and on time is a near impossible feat. Employees are treated like school children (i.e. emails reminding them to take only 1 piece of fruit are sent constantly).
Advice to Senior Management
1. Don't alienate yourselves from your employees (ie. putting up blinds during your management committee meetings AND only during those meetings send a message loud and clear that they can't be trusted and that you are not the transparent company you claim to be).
2. Don't lie to your employees. The company is small and your actions are easily noticed. Your employees are not children and they can clearly see through your words (which rarely ever match your actions).
3. Don't demand respect from your employees if you don't give them respect. Constantly reminding them that they are not giving enough and need to sacrifice more is damaging the overall company morale. It makes them feel guilty for taking vacation time, sick leave, personal appointments, leaving on time, not working weekends.
4. Don't make rash decisions and reorganize the company unnecessarily based on how you feel.
